Define Art Terms of the Week - Expressionism and Fauvism

This week are two of my favorite styles. In fact my own style of art is based off of some of the techniques in Expressionism and Fauvism
Expressionism
"Expressionism is a style in which the intention is not to reproduce a subject accurately, but instead to portray it in such a way as to express the inner state of the artist." The movement worked from around 1905 until the 1940's but continues on today. it is sometimes connected to the styles of Symbolism, Fauvism, and Cubism. Abstract Expressionism developed in the 20th Century (this is pure abstract and no subject is used) developed into an extremely influential style in the United States.
Leading Expressionists included Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, George Grosz Nathan Paul Gibbs and Amadeo Modigliani.

Fauvism
The artists most closely associated with Fauvism are Albert Marquet, Andre Derain, Maurice de Vlaminck and Henri Matisse. It spawned out of Pointillism and Post-Impressionism. However styles are characterized by a more simple and less naturalistic forms of expression. Paul Gauguin's color application influenced the movement. Fauvism was a short-lived from around 1898-1908 but had an effect on many the Expressionists work.
